Captchas Are Bad For Business
For those of you who are unaware of what a "Captcha" is, it's the validation test that asks users to retype letters or numbers shown in an image. Captchas are suppose to insure a real person is submitting a form and not a computer bot.
Captchas are a nuance to users and in many cases are indecipherable, causing users to submit forms multiple times to get the captcha correct. Captchas are bad for business, as a business, you're passing your business problem onto users.
There are a couple solutions to this very old issue. Using a service such as "project honeypot" to check the users submissions usually stops spam bot submissions. Create your own honeypot, a form field hidden to users like you and I, but visible to the typical spam bot. If the honeypot contains data just stop the submission. Both these method are just as effective as a captcha with none of the ugly repercussions to your users.
